Game Review Panel: Sunday 1st December
The following penalty has been reviewed and the player is available to play in the next game (subject to the teams reviewing accumulated player personal penalty points):
Milton Keynes Lightning #5 Jordan Spadafore
The penalty assessed is correct.
The player was involved in a verbal altercation with the Referee who assessed a 10-minute misconduct penalty for Abuse of official.
The player receives 2 penalty points and is free to play dependant on accumulated penalty points.
Romford Raiders #86 Tommy Hugget
The incident at 46.12 was assessed after a discussion between the officials as a 5 + Game for Boarding.
On review the incident does not meet the requirements of boarding under rule 41.4
The checked player had played the puck, was aware of the incoming hit but as he was not in possession not eligible to be checked.
#86 the checking player had time to divert but chose to hit the player who was not in possession of the puck, the check was with force that was neither minimal or excessive and the checked player slid into the boards and returned to play.
The correct call at the referee’s discretion would have been a minor penalty interference Rule 56.2 (i) On a Player who interferes with or impedes the progress of an opponent who is not in “possession” of the puck.
The 5 + Game misconduct penalty will be removed from the player’s record.
Romford Raiders #23 Harvey Briggs
The penalty assessed a 5-minute major is not an option under rule 61. Slashing
#23 Slashed a player off the play from behind in retaliation to a check made onto a teammate.
The force used was not excessive, direct to a hand or back of the knee and does not meet the requirement of Rule 61.3, therefore the correct penalty assessment would be a minor under rule 61.2
The 5-minute penalty will be removed from the players record and he is free to play.
The following penalties have been reviewed and have been sent to EIH Department of Player Safety:
Bristol Pitbulls #51 Reece Cochrane - Rule 43 – Checking from Behind
