The Game Review Panel have adjudicated and reviewed the following penalties from Sunday 15th December 2024 game play as follows:

The following penalty has been reviewed and the player is available to play in the next game (subject to the teams reviewing accumulated player personal penalty points):

Romford Raiders #83 Adam Laishram

Rule 48 – Illegal Check to the Head @ 14:431

The 5 + Game Misconduct penalty called at 14.31 is correct.

On review of the video footage the call is changed to Boarding Rule 41.4 as there is no direct body to head connection.

The player being checked turns as the check is made which places his right side open to be hit, the player was aware of the incoming check.

The check forces the head against the boards

The check causes reckless endangerment

The player receives 5 penalty points and is free to play subject to accumulated penalty points

Rule 41 – Boarding @ 46:45

The 5 Minute Boarding Penalty assessed at 46.45 is correct.

And meets the requirements of Boarding Rule 41.3

The opponent put themselves in a vulnerable position immediately prior to the check.

The checking player wouldn't be sufficiently sanctioned by imposing a Minor Penalty.

Player receives 1 penalty point and is free to play subject to accumulated penalty points

Rule 48 – Illegal Check to the Head @ 54:59

The call made at 54.59 is downgraded to a 5-minute major penalty as no direct head contact is visible on review of the video provided and the call changed to Boarding Rule 41.3

The player was aware of the incoming check

The player being checked loses his footing and is un-balanced as the check is made,

The check forces the head against the boards

The check causes reckless endangerment

The player receives 1 penalty point and is free to play subject to accumulated penalty points

Rule 59 – Cross Checking @ 36:17

The call made at 36.17 has been changed to interference Rule 56.4 and is downgraded to a 5-minute major penalty as no direct cross-checking motion is visible on review of the video provided.

The checking player is skating towards the boards at the top of the circle in the direction of the puck. The checked player is skating up the ice slowly looking towards the puck, the checking player is aiming to pass behind the checked player.

The checked player slows and turns to his right still looking left and is hit from the side by the checking player, who makes no attempt to avoid the contact, his stick is high, but no cross-checking motion occurs

Rule 56 INTERFERENCE

A Player who obstructs or prevents an opponent “without possession of the puck” from skating, receiving a pass, or moving about the ice freely is considered as “interference”.

56.4 The Referee, at their discretion, may assess a Major Penalty to a Player guilty of “interference” on an opponent, and who recklessly endangers the fouled Player in a way that at the discretion of the Referee such Player would not be sufficiently sanctioned by imposing a Minor Penalty.

The player receives 1 penalty point and is free to play subject to accumulated penalty points.
