DRS Outcome: Saturday 18th January 2025
The Game Review Panel & EIH DOPS have adjudicated and reviewed DRS video requests from Sheffield Steeldogs and Swindon Wildcats during their fixtures on Saturday 18th January

Leeds Knights #41 Oli Endicott

The DRS review requested by Swindon Wildcats is upheld.

A DRS review was requested of an incident during the 3rd period of the game at approx. 5:55 (45:55) of the Swindon Wildcats V Leeds Knights game.

The puck is in the Swindon Defending zone and has been passed behind the net, Swindon #12 is the first player to react and skates toward the puck from centre ice facing the boards, he plays the puck and as he does is hit from behind by Leeds#41 and thrown forwards into the boards and contact is made with the board with the head / neck area.

#41 could see the back of #12 and had time to alter his approach to check the player differently, he chose to hit #12 from behind, he did not deliberately turn his back or put himself in a vulnerable position. The check from #41 causes reckless endangerment.

As #12 is aware of the player behind him when he plays the puck and is aware of the impending hit the correct call for this action 5 + Game Misconduct penalty under Rule 41 Boarding

41.1. BOARDING

A boarding penalty shall be imposed on any Player who checks or pushes a defenceless opponent in such a manner that causes the opponent to hit or impact the Boards violently or dangerously. The severity of the penalty, based upon the impact with the Boards, shall be at the discretion of the Referee.

41.4. MAJOR PENALTY AND GAME MISCONDUCT PENALTY

The Referee, at their discretion, may assess a Major and a Game Misconduct Penalty if, in their judgment, the Player recklessly endangers their opponent by “boarding” and the player would not be sufficiently sanctioned by imposing a Major Penalty. Such assessment of reckless endangerment shall be based on the severity of the infraction, severity of the contact, the degree of violence and the general reprehensibility involved.

This check was delivered with force and caused reckless endangerment.

The player receives 5 penalty points for his actions.

As the player has reached 10 personal penalty points, the player is suspended for 1 game under the totting up procedure

Total Games suspended is 1 game

Milton Keynes Lightning #28 Tim Wallace

The DRS review requested by Sheffield Steeldogs is upheld.

A DRS review was requested for an incident during the 3rd Period of the game at approx. 6:44 (46:44) of the Sheffield Steeldogs v MK Lightning game, where a play develops in front of the team benches.

Milton Keynes #28 plays the puck toward the Sheffield team bench, Sheffield #6 is close by and skates toward the puck and stretches to play the puck, as he does body contact is made between Sheffield #6 who is stood up and Milton Keynes#28 who is crouching slightly and stretching forward, this contact is shoulder to chest area.

Milton Keynes#28 turns slightly towards Sheffield Steeldogs#6 and as he does, he slashes downward with his stick towards the stick of Sheffield Steeldogs#6, he then turns slightly more and using his stick in a “stabbing” motion towards the stomach area of Sheffield Steeldogs #6 making contact, Sheffield Steeldogs#6 then remonstrates with the officials, who were not in a position to clearly see this action.

this was delivered with minimal force and caused no apparent injury.
