On Review of the Video with the aid of replays, the Penalty assessed a 5 + game misconduct penalty fighting (unwilling combatant) is incorrect.
The player does take part in a scrum of players, he does throw 2 – 3 punches, but these are not a continuous action, to a player who does not retaliate,
These actions were seen as an attempt to incite another player to commit an infraction therefore the player is assessed.
Minor Roughing + minor Roughing + 10-minute Misconduct Unsportsmanlike conduct, (2+2+10 MIN MISCONDUCT.)
Rule 75
75.4. MISCONDUCT PENALTY
Misconduct penalties shall be assessed under this rule for the following infractions:
(III) Any Player who persists in any course of conduct (including threatening or abusive language or gestures or similar actions) designed to incite an opponent into incurring a penalty.
The 5 + Game and the 5 penalty points assessed, will be removed from his playing record and replaced with 2+2+10 MIN MISCONDUCT.
The Player receives 2 penalty points and is free to play subject to accumulated penalty points.
