Rule 46 – Fighting @ 20:00
Penalty assessed at 20.00 a 5 Minute major Fighting Rule 46
The player was not a willing combatant in an altercation and retaliated it is clear from the video that the player did not want to fight, continue to fight or prolong the fight as such the correct call under Rule 46.6 Defender- Unwilling combatant and correctly penalised with a 5 Minute Major penalty.

Rule 46 – Fighting @ 20:00
After reviewing all available video footage, it has been adjudicated that the penalty assessed at 20.00 is incorrect, a 5 Minute major penalty for fighting can only be called under IHUK guidelines for fighting as equal and willing combatants.
In this situation #51 is clearly both the instigator and aggressor in this fight
46.3 An “Instigator / Initiator” of an “altercation” shall be a Player who by their actions or demeanour demonstrates any/some of the following criteria: distance travelled; gloves off first; first punch thrown
46.4 The “Aggressor” in an altercation shall be the Player who continues to throw punches in an attempt to inflict punishment on their opponent who is in a defenceless position or who is an “unwilling combatant”
A Player who is deemed to be both the “Aggressor” and the “Instigator / Initiator” of an altercation shall be assessed a Minor Penalty (“Aggressor”) plus a Minor Penalty (“Instigator / Initiator”) plus a Major Penalty (“Fighting”) and an automatic Game Misconduct Penalty (2’+2’+5’+GMP).
The player receives 5 penalty points and is suspended for 1 game under the totting up procedure for reaching 15 penalty points.
Bristol Pitbulls #24 Tanner Butler
Rule 43 – Checking from Behind @ 53:50
After reviewing all available video footage, it has been adjudicated that the penalty assessed at 53.50 A 5 + Game Misconduct Rule 43- Checking from behind is correct,
#24 is trailing behind the Berkshire player who slows as he approaches the boards, when he is approx. 2 feet from the boards #24 hits the player from behind propelling him into the boards with first contact being the head / neck area.
43.2. MINOR PENALTY
This infraction is considered serious and dangerous, therefore there is no option to award a Minor Penalty for “Checking from Behind”.
43.3. MAJOR PENALTY AND GAME MISCONDUCT PENALTY
The Referee, at their discretion, shall assess a Major Penalty and an automatic Game Misconduct Penalty to a Player guilty of “checking from behind” an opponent, and who recklessly endangers the fouled Player
The player receives 5 penalty points and is suspended for 1 game under the totting up procedure for reaching 15 penalty points.
Bristol Pitbulls #77 Bayley Harewood
Rule 75 – Unsportsmanlike Conduct @ 53:50
After reviewing all available video footage, it has been adjudicated that the penalties assessed at 53.50, a 10 Minute misconduct- Rule 75 Unsportsmanlike conduct AND an additional Game misconduct - Rule 75 Unsportsmanlike conduct are correct.
At 53.50 an incident occurred on the ice and while the officials were at the penalty bench dealing with the #77 who was already serving a minor under Rule 75 Unsportsmanlike conduct, became abusive to the officials, for this he was assessed a 10 Minute misconduct and instructed to go to the changing room.
Rule 75.4
(IV) When a penalized Player challenges or disputes the ruling of an Official after they have already entered the Penalty Box and play has resumed.
(V) In general, participants displaying this type of behaviour are assessed a Minor Penalty, then a Misconduct Penalty and then a Game Misconduct Penalty if they persist.
He then refused to leave the ice and gestured and continued the abuse towards the officials and for this was assessed the additional game misconduct.
Rule 75.5
(I) If a Player persists in any course of conduct for which they were previously assessed a Misconduct Penalty.
The player receives 6 penalty points and is suspended for 1 game under the totting up procedure for reaching 10 penalty points.
