Top 3 NIHL Players Of Week 25
1. Janne Laakkonen
The Peterborough Phantoms secured a fantastic four-point weekend and 42 year old Janne Laakkonen was at the heart of both games with two brilliant performances. On Saturday he assisted three goals and scored the empty netter in a 5-1 away win against the MK Lightning. Then on Sunday he replicated that with another three assists and goal in their 6-4 win against the Sheffield Steeldogs. Janne proving that age is just a number as he notched up his 75 assist of the NIHL season.
2. Matt Barron
The hot form continued for Barron who was brilliant across both games in the Leeds Knights four-point weekend. On Saturday he scored another hat-trick and assisted a further three in the Knights 7-4 win against the Hull Seahawks. Then on Sunday he was involved again with a goal and an assist in the 3-0 shutout away victory against the Telford Tigers. The Canadian has been in fine form in the final stretch of the season.
3. Rhys Smetham
It was a much improved weekend for the Bristol Pitbulls who secured a big 9-5 win on Saturday night over the Romford Raiders. 21 year old Rhys Smetham was a bright spark scoring and assisted a further two goals on Saturday. Then on Sunday he scored another brilliant goal against the Berkshire Bees. In his first season of the NIHL, he has got 33 points including 16 goals. Definitely a player to watch out for in the couple seasons!

Tyler Perre got a shutout for the Wildcats in their 3-0 win on Friday night. Kieran Brown scored four goals against the Seahawks on Saturday. Adam Laishram scored three goals across the weekend.
