DOPS: Saturday 8th March 2025
The Department of Player Safety have adjudicated and reviewed the penalties sent to them by the PINIHL Game Review Panel from game play over the weekend 8th & 9th March 2025 and confirm:

Hull Seahawks- #17 Jason Hewitt

Rule 61 – Slashing @ 18.39

The 5 + Game misconduct penalty for Slashing assessed at 18.39 is correct.

The Leeds Knights player was in possession of the puck on the boards in the Hull Defending Zone heading towards the goal line. Hull #17 skates towards the player and with both hands on the stick, slashes downwards to the back of the player’s leg.

The slash making contact on or just below the knee, some of which is unprotected, causing reckless endangerment.

61.3. MAJOR PENALTY AND GAME MISCONDUCT PENALTY

The Referee, at their discretion, may assess a Major Penalty and an automatic Game Misconduct Penalty if, in their judgment, the Player recklessly endangers their opponent by “slashing” and the player would not be sufficiently sanctioned by imposing a Minor Penalty. Such assessment of reckless endangerment shall be based on the severity of the infraction, severity of the contact, the degree of violence and the general reprehensibility involved.

The player receives 5 penalty points on their record and as a tier 1 tariff offence the Player is suspended for 2 games.

Total games suspended is 2 games, 1 of which was served on Sunday 9th March.
