The Leeds Knights win the NIHL league title for the 3rd straight season
This season has been one of the closest battles we have seen since the NIHL returned with the MK Lightning pushing them right until the very end.
On Saturday was arguably the title decider where the Knights came from 1-0 down in Milton Keynes to beat them 3-1 which gave them all the momentum to win the title back at home on Sunday.
Despite going behind in their third game of the weekend against the Solway Sharks, they fought back to win 4-2 on the night securing the title at the castle in front of a packed out crowd.
Ryan Aldridge spoke on the achievement saying:
“ We found a way to do it on Sunday night and it’s such a special feeling to win it, the team should be very proud of themselves!”
“This season specifically has been a tough one, it’s a harder league and has been the hardest one to win but definitely the sweetest one, 3 in 3 is magical and they all deserve it.”
The Knights team had their ups and downs throughout the season but the end to their season, winning their previous 10 games in a row has ultimately led to them clinching the trophy.
They will look to become the first NIHL team to complete the treble with the Play-off trophy still up for grabs and it will certainly take a big performance for any team to try and stop them!
