Top 3 NIHL players of week five!
With another weekend in the books, these were the three key players who stood out this weekend!

1. Ethan James

Ethan has had a fantastic start to the season for the Raiders and this weekend was his best yet! On Saturday he made 53 saves in a 4-3 victory away in Sheffield and then helped secure Romford a four point weekend saving another 39 shots at home against the Berkshire Bees. This has put the Raiders joint top of the league on 14 points alongside the Knights and Lightning. It has also put Ethan up to second in the goalie rankings this season with an impressive average save percentage of 91.25%.

2. Andrew Shewfelt

At number two we have another Raiders player in Andrew Shewfelt who also have a great weekend. In Saturdays 4-3 win he provided two key assists and then on Sunday he scored a hat-trick and added another assist taking his total to three goals and three assists on the weekend. After missing last weekend, he came back into the lineup with a bang and showed how important he is to Adam Laishram’s team.

3. Mack Stewart

The MK Lightning also secured a four-point weekend and their key player in these two games was Mack Stewart. The 20-year-old was the man of the match in the Lightning’s 8-3 victory over the Tigers where he scored one and assisted two. Make sure to check out his cheeky goal on YouTube. He then added another two assists on Sunday in their 5-4 win over the Bristol Pitbulls. Mack is currently on a two-way with the Belfast Giants and you can really see the improvement from last season.

Honourable mentions:

Tomasz Malasinski was back in the lineup for Wildcats only game this weekend and he was back with a bang as he scored twice and assisted three in a five points game. Jake Bricknell also got four points on the night. Luke Ferrara scored four goals on his return from suspension on Sunday for the Phantoms. Marcel Balaz carried on his point scoring form as he was involved in all five goals for the Bees in their 5-3 win on Saturday. And finally Lee Bonner had a phenomenal game on Sunday scoring both goals for the Hull Seahawks in their 2-1 win over the Leeds Knights.
