Decision Review System Outcome: Sunday 3rd November
The Game Review Panel & EIH DOPS have adjudicated and reviewed a DRS video request from Swindon Wildcats during their fixture with the Solway Sharks on Sunday 3rd November 2024.

Solway Sharks #9 Mason Alderson

The DRS Review is Upheld

An incident occurred at 12:24 during the first period, Swindon #19 was checked by Solway #9 into the boards, and this was assessed by the officials at the time under Rule 41 as a minor penalty for Boarding.

Due to the lateness of the hit by Solway #9, the impact with the Swindon player, the distance the player was propelled to the boards and the reckless endangerment caused a minor penalty was not sufficient.

Under Rule 41.4 this should have been assessed as a 5 + Game Misconduct penalty due to the following factors:

The Swindon Player #19 was not in possession of the puck, which was under the control of the Solway Netminder.

#19 was not eligible to be checked and would not have been expecting or in a position to protect himself from a check and the reckless endangerment caused.

As the first point of impact with the boards was the shoulder area and appeared minimal the Solway player #9 will receive a 5 + Game misconduct penalty.

Player receives 5 penalty points and is free to play subject to accumulated penalty points.
