Game Review Panel: Thursday 6th February 2025
The following penalty have been reviewed and the players are available to play in the next game (subject to the teams reviewing accumulated player personal penalty points):
Berkshire Bees #88 Josh Martin
Rule 75 – Unsportsmanlike Conduct @ 42:49
The penalties assessed at 42.49 for roughing and Unsportsmanlike conduct are correct.
After an incident in which play #88 was assessed a minor roughing penalty, he proceeded to argue and clearly remonstrate with the officials, for this he was assessed a 10 minute misconduct penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct.
The player receives 2 penalty points and is free to play subject to accumulated penalty points
Berkshire Bees #42 Max Wright
Rule 51 – Roughing @ 53.13
After reviewing all available video footage of the incident at 53.13, it has been adjudicated that the Penalty assessed to BB#42 is to be downgraded from the 5 + Game Roughing call “under Rule 51.3 for a Goalkeeper who uses their blocker glove to punch an opponent and the action is likely to result in injury to the opponent” to a 2-minute minor roughing + 2-minute minor roughing
After the PB#91 makes a deliberate contact with the BB#42 “the Goalie” a scrum occurs, PB#91 is on the ice beneath a BB defending player and BB#42 who then rises up and uses his right hand with his blocker in a pushing motion once.
He then uses his left hand to throw 2 punches with the catching glove still on to the body of PB#91
It is the view of the GRP that this action does not warrant a severe sanction and penalising with 2 separate minors for Roughing would be sufficient sanction.
The 5 + Game misconduct Roughing penalty issued and 5 penalty points assessed for using his blocker in a punching motion will be removed from his record and he will be free to play subject to accumulated penalty points.
Peterborough Phantoms #91 Nathan Salem
Rule 56 – Interference @ 53.13
After reviewing all available video footage of the incident at 53.13, it has been adjudicated that the Penalty assessed to PB#91 is to be downgraded from the 5 + Game Interference call to a minor for Goalie Interference.
PB#91 was breaking in on goal with the puck and had 3 players to pass, the first slashes at his right leg, then tries to hook his left leg, the second player places the stick in front of the left leg forcing it behind his right causing PB#91 to lose footing ending with his weight on one foot and his other behind attempting to balance, but is still in a fast forward motion.
He makes a deliberate shift of weight toward the Berkshire Goalie and takes the goalie out of the play.
This is interference on the Goalie Rule 69, as the change of direction makes the contact “intentional or deliberate”
Rule 69.2 In all cases in which an attacking Player initiates “intentional or deliberate” contact with a Goalkeeper, whether or not the Goalkeeper is inside or outside the Goal Crease, and whether or not a goal is scored, the attacking Player will receive a penalty (Minor or Major, as the Referee deems appropriate).
In all cases where the infraction being imposed is to the attacking Player for hindering the Goalkeeper’s ability to move freely in their Goal Crease, the penalty to be assessed is for Goalkeeper interference”.
It is the view of the GRP that due to the fact the player was tripped initially that a 2 minute minor is sufficient sanction for his actions.
The 5 + Game misconduct Interference penalty issued and 5 penalty points will be removed from his record and he will be free to play subject to accumulated penalty points

No penalties were sent to DOPS from game play on 6th February 2025.
