Matt Barron & Noah McMullin Depart The Leeds Knights
Since joining the Knights in 2023, both Matt and Noah have played pivotal roles in what has been a historic period for the club. Across two unforgettable seasons, the pair were instrumental in helping the Knights secure back-to-back NIHL National League titles, as well as lifting the NIHL National Cup for the first time in club history in 2025!
Barron quickly became a key figure in the Knights’ attack, scoring an impressive 184 points over two seasons, and proving to be one of the most dangerous forwards in the league. His ability to find the back of the net and create scoring chances for his teammates was crucial to the club’s success.
Matt shared: ‘These two past years have been very special and the friends you make and the fans and just everything about it has been … I just can’t say good enough things about being here.’
On the defensive side, McMullin formed the backbone of a rock-solid Knights defence, which boasted the best defensive record in the division during his two seasons at the club. His consistency, leadership, and ability to shut down opposing attacks helped solidify the Knights as one of the toughest teams to break down in the league.
Noah commented: ‘The guys made it really easy for me to come over, they are super welcoming, and I appreciate their friendship and their camaraderie. The fans were unbelievable and everything exceeded my expectations.’
Head Coach Ryan Aldridge said: ‘Although I have known for a while we would be losing Matty and Noah for opportunities back home the reality of them not being in the line up next year hit me hard Monday morning.’
“We are not just losing two great players but two great people. They have played through sickness, injuries and never missed a beat. They are true professionals and give their all to the team every night. I will miss having them around the rink but wish them every success for the future and hope to see them back for a visit to the castle in the future.’
Everyone at Leeds Knights would like to offer our sincere thanks to both players for their commitment, professionalism, and the unforgettable memories they've helped create during their time with the Knights!
